Someone called me a player hater. To that I replied: " What are you...fishing for compliments. You're making the assumption that I think you're a player; perhaps I just hate your corny-ass style." Thus ignites the rant for the moment.
What is hater? Is it the jealous person that steals the shining moment from anything positive? Are haters merely life's disgruntled losers who can never win? What about chronic nay-sayers or people who use put-downs? These days to be called a hater in some circles is almost akin to being called a bully, met with the reception befitted for a pariah. Some people think that the word hate should never be used except only under extreme circumstances, as if our culture has an arsenal of words to only be fired in times of distress. Give me a break! Everything has it's place. Someone has to hate the assholes of the world!
True, there are many presentations of hate. But I think there is a difference between individuals who are guided by jealousy and those that are simply trying to stay sucker-free at any cost. Jealousy involves something being taken to heart, something out of one's favor. This kind of hater is actually sensitive and is highly reactive to others. They can be careless, lack insight, and very superficial in their observations of the world and its inner workings. They are the early, but temporary supporters of a cause. Examples of the douche bags I'm talking about include: People who hate without even bothering being informed. OR people who hate out of their need to feel unique; a good hater isn't looking for approval.
I like to say that some people hate from the heart. These people are critical of the activities around them and operate from a place of freedom of self-preservation. This kind of hater sees the fuckery in life and avoids the shaft. These haters are OK with and prepared for the good and bad consequences that may come with may come with telling somebody to shut the fuck up. Yet this kind of hater is able to enjoy being around others. Sometimes their nay-saying gives more time for debate on the floor- a filibuster of sorts. These haters can creative, tend to be sarcastic, and are always ready for the big pay back. They always have the best disses and threats! I'm most impressed with their agility in the world of Yo Mama jokes. The image above, Dave Chapelle's Player Haters are an wonderful example of commendable hatred.
Not every hater is out to become the next slave driver or Hitler. Some haters have their own special brand of laissez-faire Fuck It, that shows up to give some a chuckle and others disappointing scowl. Which side of the divide do you reside?
